1. These terms
These terms govern your use of Battlemate — this website at battlemate.co.uk and the Battlemate application at app.battlemate.co.uk (together, the "Service"), operated by Battlemate ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. The Service is designed for players in the United Kingdom.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account and everything done with it. Keep your password secure, provide accurate information, and let us know at contact@battlemate.co.uk if you think your account has been compromised. One account per person; don't impersonate anyone else.
4. What the Service is
Battlemate helps tabletop wargamers find opponents, join or create groups, and discover venues and events. We are an introduction platform: we connect players, but the battles, events and meetups themselves are arranged between users and are not run, supervised or endorsed by us.
5. Meeting other players in person
Battlemate exists to get you playing face to face, so please use good judgement:
- We do not vet users, groups or venues.
- You decide who to meet, where and when — prefer public venues such as gaming stores and clubs, especially for a first game.
- You attend battles and events at your own risk. We are not responsible for what happens at meetups arranged through the Service.
- If another user behaves inappropriately, report it to contact@battlemate.co.uk.
6. Your content and conduct
You keep ownership of the content you post — profiles, group descriptions, event listings, images and messages — and you grant us a licence to host and display it as needed to run the Service. You must not:
- harass, threaten or abuse other users;
- post unlawful, obscene or infringing content;
- impersonate any person or organisation;
- spam users, scrape the Service, or use it for commercial solicitation;
- attempt to break, probe or overload the Service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these rules (see section 9).
7. Intellectual property
The Battlemate name, logo and the Service itself are our property. You may not copy or reuse them without permission.
Battlemate is an independent, unofficial fan platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Games Workshop. Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Kill Team and all associated names are trademarks of Games Workshop Limited. Other game names referenced on the Service are trademarks of their respective owners, used only to identify the games players play.
8. Venues and events
Venues listed on the Service are independent businesses or locations added by users. We do not control them and are not responsible for their availability, safety or policies. Events are run by their hosts, not by us — any issues with an event should be raised with its host.
9. Suspension and termination
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, harm other users, or put the Service at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may change or withdraw features. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the Service or from meetups arranged through it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you on the Service or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute — though if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also rely on the courts and consumer protections of your home nation.
